Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) is a special technique to rapidly process any traumatic memory or reactive tendency in a way that integrates the difficult experience. This brings freedom from suffering and wisdom from the experience. EMDR activates and supports the brain’s natural processing using bilateral stimulation (BLS), allowing you to gather the knowledge and insight that these stored memories hold rather than experience the negative aspects and intensity of the experience.

THE BODY DOESN'T LIE

Experiences that are overwhelming or traumatic to the body often are stored viscerally in the body as physical reactions, sensations, emotions, images, negative thoughts, and beliefs. They can be disturbing to an individual even years after the experience. Our body stores these experiences as tension and dis-ease.

SHIFT BELIEFS AND INTEGRATE

Many people have patterns and negative beliefs about themselves that they would like to change. Some of these might sound like, “I am not good enough, a bad person, unlovable, unwanted, or unworthy.” Negative beliefs naturally resolve and shift to positive beliefs in the process of EMDR. Individuals gain insight into who they are and can move towards who they truly are.

We all experience feelings such as guilt, shame, anger, sadness, grief, and loss. EMDR provides an individual with resources to move through these feelings with ease as well as builds on their existing inner strengths.

HEALING THE INNER CHILD

I have expertise in working with people who experienced ongoing trauma in childhood or relationships including neglect, emotional or verbal abuse, and abandonment.

SHORT-TERM PROCESSING

Additionally, I work with individuals who are referred by other health care clinicians or therapists to process specific experiences on a short-term basis.
