Cultivating Safety ❤ Self – Love Note

One of the simplest and most loving things you can do for your body is to feel into your safety.

To let your body take it’s time to recognize that You are here, that it is safe.

I’ve often felt in a fight or flight mode, or some other activation in my body that makes me feel that it is life or death.

We carry feelings and sensations of activation that have not been completed in the past – from a time of life or death, or overwhelm in your own life, an experience where you felt like it was life or death, an experience of a past life (if you believe in this), or a loss or trauma in the lives of your ancestors carried in your cells.

It’s helpful to remind your body and nervous system of its current safety.

Over time this supports your nervous system in building capacity to feel safer and to heal up any parts in you that don’t feel safe.

Cultivating Safety

Experiment with these simple steps to calibrate your nervous system to current safety and build your capacity to experience everything in life.

  • Notice your space around you and let your body orient. This is what animals do to secure that their surroundings feel safe. We need to do this too. Doing it consciously lets your body and nervous system have the time to integrate what you’re seeing.
  • Look for what feels pleasant to look at, feel, touch, smell, or taste in your external world and surroundings.
  • Allow yourself to feel into the senses with it, noticing how it feels inside to tune into the pleasant experiences. Notice where you feel sensation, emotion, or movement in your body. Notice any colors or images. Stay with it and experience what happens as you continue.
  • If the words resonate, say to yourself I am here. I am safe. Notice the experience of this. Sometimes upsetting emotions release or want to be seen. Allow this to move through and take a break if you need it.

Safety is essential to our whole well being, our relationships, our work, and our communities. I sense that when I bring myself to safety, others around me feel safer and more grounded as well.

It’s important we continue to remind ourselves of our safety, if we are truly in a safe position. We can slowly chip away at the activation of the collective nervous system, our collective unconscious.

I am grateful for my safety.
