Just let it go

How do you just ‘let it go’ when something is actually bothering you?

If it means to just stop thinking about it, I’ve found it doesn’t work for most people. Instead, I think to give in to the feeling, be silent and breathe. Sometimes the feeling is so vulnerable it can slip away. Stay close.

Simple, yet not always easy. Sometimes it’s the last thing we want to do, but something keeps drawing us back in…

Just give in.

Giving in to a feeling doesn’t mean you will feel it forever. It means to stop resisting, to soften our defenses and ways of making discomfort go away. Our resistance only makes that feeling stronger- for it has its own life and desire to be known. When we surrender to the feeling, it doesn’t hold much power. It moves through us and we see that we are not what we feel, but the awareness watching the experience.

How about letting what's there be known…. instead of letting GO? And what naturally happens is the emotion will go.

Our feelings are sensations and energy. While some are uncomfortable, they exist to give us life and insight into who we think we are and who we really are.

Would giving in to the direct experience of discomfort bring you more joy and a fuller existence?
